Concrete Handbook for Artists: More Details
The book is 135 pages, 7.5" X 9", black and white photos and line drawings. Paperback binding (lay-flat). ISBN 0-9730223-0-2. Cost is $29.95 USD, $29.95 CAD or £16.95 GBP plus shipping. First published 2002, updated 2006.
Concrete Handbook for Artists started with the Art Concrete web site. As the site got larger and larger with more and more information, I received requests for the web site to be turned into a book. The web site remains, and contains about a third of the information that is now in the book. If you find the web site useful, you now have an idea what the book is like.
Important areas of the book include definitions and explanations of various materials used in concrete including possible sources of supply, mix proportions for various purposes; coloring, surface and finishing techniques; environmental concerns and safety issues; tools and techniques.
The book has sold to artists and craftspeople, students and hobbyists, around the world including Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Israel, South Africa, United Kingdom, Holland, Italy, Greece, France, Cyprus, India, Oman, Japan, Sweden, Norway, Finland, Poland, Switzerland, Portugal, UAE, Scotland, Ireland, Thailand... and all across the United States and Canada (where the book is published and printed).
I appreciate that it's difficult to buy a book when you can't pick it up and flip through it to see what it's like. But you can see some of the book on GoogleBooks. Please note: if you click on "Buy this book" on GoogleBooks you will not be able to find it at Amazon or Chapters-Indigo. The choice of "Goss Design" brings you back to the Art Concrete web site where you can purchase the book. But you can also click on the BUY BOOK link here.
